Epidemiological Component
Objective
To determine the prevalence of dengue infection and the mortality rate among dengue patients.
Methodology
Dengue incidences reported through the Department of Epidemiology in the Ministry of Public Health, Thailand will be collected and recorded. The data will be analysed for morbidity rate in both treatment (where super-sterile mosquitoes are planned to be released) and control clusters (where no intervention will be carried out). Dengue patients in hospitals in four selected sub-districts in Bangkok will be identified using molecular analyses.
